City of Taipei and the Taipei
101 tower as seen from part
way up Elephant Mountain
For visitors the best way to get around the city is
to buy an EASYPASS card and take the MRT.
For locals, scooters are the vehicle
of choice for commuting around town.
Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall
The whole experience at the Memorial is one of peace and relaxation. One can spend hours just
wondering the well maintained grounds, enjoying the beautiful foliage and animal life. Above, an
Egret enjoys a tasty snack.

It wasn't hard to find the Taipei 101 tower
from the MRT. We just needed to look up
as we walked.
The counter balance at the top of the tower to
dampen wind and earthquakes. The sphere
weighs 728 tons!
The lower levels of the tower contain a
multi-level, very modern shopping mall.
For those more interested in the local goods,
there are plenty of street markets to visit.
Nearby Elephant Mountain is a great place to stretch your legs, enjoy nature and get a little
exercise. The path is paved the whole way but is fairly steep in parts. There are many interesting
sites to see and enjoy along the way.
Scooters are everywhere and even take the place of the family car.

the beautiful grounds.
Umbrellas come in handy not only for the
sudden downpours of rain but help keep the
very hot sun off of you too.
